Cutting-edge scientist to speak at RE

Scientist Tiffany Vora, an expert in the field of biotechnology, will provide the RE community with a view into the likely effects of exponentially growing technologies on the future and a glimpse of cutting-edge work at the intersection of biology, technology and genetics. Vora, the Faculty Director and Vice Chair of Digital Biology and Medicine at Singularity University, will address the Ransom Everglades community at 7 p.m. on April 2 at the Lewis Family Auditorium
Vora represents the latest in a series of illustrious figures in education who have spoken at RE since the kickoff of the school’s REinventing Excellence campaign. She follows Sir Ken Robinson, who visited RE in fall 2017, and physicist Brian Greene, who spoke last October. All members of the community and outside guests are welcome.

Vora, who earned her undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry at New York University and a doctorate in molecular biology at Princeton University, will instruct on the importance of exponential, outside-the-box thinking in a rapidly changing world. She will meet with students during the day, and share her expertise on DNA sequencing, editing and the promise in those tools.

Vora previously worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Bayana Science, an editing, writing, and consulting company that she founded. She also served as an instructor for the Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. Her visit has been coordinated by science faculty member Paul Natland ’02.
