RE unveils new sports performance training

Ransom Everglades launched a sports performance training program designed to meet the year-round strength and conditioning needs of student-athletes on each of its teams, as well as to enhance physical education offerings for all students.
RE athletes are benefitting from the experience and expertise of newly appointed Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Victoria Druehl and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Jake Caron, who have inaugurated sport-specific training regimens designed to develop physical competence, improve athletic performance and prevent injury.

Druehl and Caron are working closely with each of RE's coaches to integrate the performance training into their weekly practice plans and optional off-season workouts, focusing on rest, recovery, nutrition and strength training. As members of RE's physical education faculty, Druehl and Caron also are incorporating the training principles into RE's physical education classes on both campuses.

The pair are Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists under the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the highest possible certification in the field. They will also assist Ransom Everglades athletic trainers in developing novel programs for student-athletes in post-injury rehabilitation.

"We are pleased to offer our student-athletes access to the highest standard of care in the important realm of strength and conditioning under Coach Druehl and Coach Caron," RE Director of Athletics and Physical Education Corey Goff said. "These outstanding additions to our faculty will enable all of RE's teams and student-athletes to have their strength and conditioning needs met fully, safely and conveniently on both campuses, and they will provide critical input into our physical education programming."

The new strength and conditioning coaches have already begun welcoming RE student-athletes, inviting them to begin taking advantage of voluntary summer workouts.

Druehl came to RE from IMG Academy in Bradenton, where she served as a strength and conditioning coach and physical education teacher. During her IMG tenure, she oversaw the Chinese Soccer Residency Program through Beijing Sport University and the General Administration of Sport of China. Druehl previously worked at Palmer Trinity School and Harvard-Westlake School outside of Los Angeles. She earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science at the University of Connecticut and her MEd in exercise physiology at the University of Miami.

Caron arrived from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he served on the strength and conditioning staff for the football team while also working in the private sector at various training facilities. Prior to his tenure at UNLV, Caron worked as an assistant football coach at the University of Redlands. After earning his BA at Pitzer College, Caron was a professional football quarterback for four years in the International Federation of American Football and the Arena Football League.

Druehl and Caron will be available to work with varsity athletes before and after classes or during free periods to help them execute their team training regimens. For questions about the new program, please contact Corey Goff
