Raiders shutout Florida Christian in season opener

The Raider football team went on the road to start their 2019-20 season and left no doubt they were ready to play with a resounding 20-0 victory over Florida Christian.
Despite a forty minute lightning delay, the Raiders came out swinging with a ten-play, seventy-yard opening touchdown drive. The Raiders converted a fourth and five before quarterback Thomas Schein hit star wide receiver Robby Moret for a thirty-yard touchdown. Following a great opening drive, the Raider defense, led by Senior Joseph Kotsi, did not allow the Florida Christian offense much room. Later in the first half, quarterback Thomas Schein hit receiver Walker White for a beautiful sixty-yard touchdown that extended the lead to 12-0 at the half. Both teams struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the third quarter and two fumbles by Florida Christian would close the door on any potential comeback. Thomas Schein would add a late touchdown on the ground and the Raider defense did not allow a point, pitching a shutout to open the season. The Raiders will get back on the practice field this week and prepare for a huge road contest at Westminister Christian September 6 at 4 p.m.
