RE advances to national keelboat championship

Ransom Everglades earned its first-ever bid to the national championship of keelboat racing after a dominant performance by sailors Stephan Baker '22, Nicolas Echarte '21, Luis LaFontisee '21 and Lachlain McGranahan '20 at the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association District Keelboat Qualifier Regatta in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Light winds made for tedious and tactical sailing, by RE's four-person team prevailed on Oct. 5, concluding the seven-race series with four first-place finishes. With the effort, the crew secured the only SAISA bid for the 2019 Interscholastic Sailing Association Keelboat Invitational Regatta Dec. 13-15 in St. Petersburg. RE's sailing team is lead by coach Joe Logan.
