Three Ransom Everglades senior drama students stepped out of the spotlight and moved behind the curtain to present the 2019-20 Senior Directing Showcase, a special night of student drama at RE. Viviana Freyer '20, Abigail Aldrich '20 and Asher Lieberman '20 each assembled student-actors, selected and staged plays and, in Freyer's case, even wrote her own script.
The Jan. 29 performance in the Acting Studio represented the culmination of the Senior Directing Workshop course under performing arts teacher Sam Shapiro.
Freyer presented the debut of Chai on Life featuring Nico Maynulet '23, Carlos Prio-Touzet '20, Matthew Zide '22, Alex Prio-Touzet '21, Celeste Viana '22, Natasha Rodriguez '23, Ricky Andrade '21 and Liv Steinhart '23.
Aldrich presented Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph, which included RE drama students Zoe Holtzman '22, Sofia Mora '20, Sol Cuello-Robert '22 and Carlos Prio-Touzet.
Lieberman finished the evening with Children! Children! by Jack Horrigan, a play that included Josh Hertz '20, Becca Fisher '20, Vivi Vela '21, Megan Diston '21, Maddy Bagnall '21, Ricky Andrade '21, Alexandra Henriquez '22 and Nico Maynulet '22.
Technical crew Jamie Lockhart '21, Shelby Sanders '21 and Kathleen Stanton-Sharpless '22 handled the set and lighting with the assistance of RE technical director Quincy Knowles and assistant Florencia Ancewicz.
