Saturday, February 1st saw 9 Freshman Boys and Girls from the Upper School squad and 20 Middle School Boys and Girls take to the water in Orlando, FL for the 2020 Novice Regatta. This regatta is traditionally the first major regatta for Florida crews and is reserved for the youngest rowers to gain experience and see where they stand against their peers before the spring season heats up.
The day saw RE Crew's 10 entries (the team's largest effort in years) battle rainy, cold and windy conditions and some of the best club and scholastic teams from across the state to some very fine results. In tough conditions, impressive was the grit shown by the entire middle school squad in their first major regatta of the year and the grit and determination shown by a small but determined upper school squad against some of the top club programs in the state.
RE Crew next sees action in three weeks with the full upper school squad at the Sarasota Invitational Regatta on february 22nd in Sarasota, FL.
