Relying on rituals, traditions and RE spirit

During this time of across-the-board uncertainty, the reliance on schedules, rituals and traditions has helped keep spirits up and given us all something to look forward to. If one were to read this edition of the Dell + Cannon without knowledge of our current predicament, I doubt that visions of computer screens, ear pods and profile pictures would come to mind.
With the exception of the absence of most extracurricular activities and direct human contact, school, as we know it at Ransom Everglades, seems relatively unchanged. Schedules, traditions and rituals have prevailed. Yet we know that school is not the same. and that the "other curriculum" – in-person relationships and mentorships, learning to get along with and respect each other regardless of differences, limitless offerings of rigorous extracurricular activities, student-led clubs and beautiful campuses that draw on the strength of the natural world – has always moved hand in hand with the academic curriculum. The two have made Ransom Everglades the educational powerhouse that we love.

Those two curriculums will come fully together again, of that I am certain. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this robust edition of the Dell + Cannon, which includes an introduction to our new For the REcord page.

At last evening's Senior Panel – a tradition we all look forward to – Nick Namias '20, a three-sport athlete and excellent student who is headed to Boston College in the fall, remarked on how important it was to look to the stands and see his friends cheering on his team. Feeling the support and school spirit pushed him to give it his best. I thank you for cheering on us during this unusual time; your encouragement has made all the difference.
