STEM Center ready for students

When students return to classes at the upper school on October 12, they will enter campus through a beautifully landscaped new quadrangle and experience student life in and around the gleaming new STEM Center. The three-story, 45,000 square-foot, glass-walled facility features flexible spaces for innovation and collaboration, state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories, and outdoor seating that will serve as a study area and open-air auditorium. RE’s STEM faculty began moving into the new center in mid-August, and several have been teaching there during REmote RE. Students and faculty will utilize fabrication and maker areas that can be seen from the new quad; a rooftop lab and garden; wide-open areas for project work or discussion; and a reconfigurable multi-purpose auditorium underneath the majestic outdoor staircase.

The LEED-certified center will be assisted in power by rooftop solar panels and will implement sustainability best practices. It will include an interactive resources panel that will allow students to engage with its energy use.

Ransom Everglades will share more information about this academic center in the coming weeks; for now, enjoy this look inside and outside the STEM Center, which was designed by architects Perkins+Will.
