Concussion baseline testing - Everyone must complete
If you will be participating or trying out for the Soccer Team at Ransom Everglades this year you are required to complete a concussion baseline test prior to activity.
The Baseline assessment we are currently using is ImPACT test. This is a computer generated test used to assess your normal brain function (including learning and memory skills, ability to pay attention or concentrate, reaction times, and how quickly you think and solve problems). The confidential results from baseline tests (or pre-injury tests) can be used and compared to the same exam conducted by our Sports Medicine team or with a Concussion Specialist during the season if a concussion is suspected.
In the very near future, you will receive an email message entitled "You've Been Assigned an ImPACT Baseline Test". This email will contain detailed instructions and a link to your child's unique ImPACT baseline assessment. Please read the instructions carefully and watch the short video with your child before allowing them to conduct the assessment. Please do not complete the assessment with or for your child, there is no grade to be earned and there are no wrong answers for this confidential assessment. However, the algorythim in the test can determine if the test instrcutiosn were not followed properly and an INVALID score will require your child to re-take the entire test.

ImPACT Concussion Baseline Testing
Please review the test taking instructions prior to starting the test
to ensure a valid score. It is very important that you are able to fully concentrate during the entire test. Poor performance will result in an invalid test and will require a retake! Read the instructions for each part of the test carefully.
►No headphones or cell phone use during the test. Turn off your phone to avoid any distractions.
►When the test asks you about background questions called the “demographic” section. You can SKIP THIS PART.
►Take your time to read each section’s instructions very carefully. Each module is self-explanatory. It is common to perform the color word match module incorrectly, please read that section’s instructions thoroughly.
►You must use a standard external mouse. You may not use a finger mouse pad (ie: laptop mouse), a Track Mouse, or anything other than a standard mouse.
►You do not need to put an email address in the end when it asks for an email address. Just leave your screen open and show it to the athletic trainer.
