Girls JV Soccer Awards 2020-21

MVP -  This award goes to the Most Valuable Player(s) on the team.  This year we picked four players, 2 offensive & 2 defensive.  They were a positive influence on the team on and off the field, their work in practice to improve individually and within the team strategy led to their success.  First the offensive MVPs  Congratulations to Ellie Dyke & Grace Arriola.  Grace led the team in scoring with 2 goals, 1 assist and was selected game co-MVP once.   Ellie was a consistent scoring threat from left midfield and forward positions all season.  She had a goal and an assist in the last game making the difference in that win.  She was selected game co-MVP twice.  The defensive MVPs were a constant presence in the back line the whole year.  Rarely getting substituted.  Providing us stability as we substituted other players, had injuries and different lineups during the season.  They got better as a partnership which really showed in the last two games, both wins.  They were each selected game co-MVPs once. Congratulations to Paisley Verea & Georgia Crosby.

Most Improved Award - This award goes to the player(s) who have improved their game the most over the course of the season.   By game we mean basic technique and skills, positioning, and understanding the team strategy.   This was her first year on the team.  She worked hard during practices and off-field training days which showed up on game day.  She won game co-MVP of the first Gulliver game. Congratulations to Tamia Beckford.  The second player worked on her individual position skills with a position coach for the first time.   Early in the season she made many saves to keep us in games.  Congratulations to Kati Ortega

Raider Award - This award goes to the player(s) who the coaches feel are great team players, who help the team in ways large and small; obvious and subtle which this year really characterizes their position.  This year’s winners formed an effective partnership in the midfield, linking offense and defense, helping the team work together and be better as a whole.  These two reacted to the other’s positioning and the flow of the game which can mean the difference between going on offense or scrambling back on defense.  Congratulations to Dani Pineros & Brinson Cusack who were selected game co-MVPs twice and once respectively.
