Five teams advance to robotics worlds

Three upper school robotics teams and two from the middle school earned invitations to 2021 robotics world championships with stellar performances at recent events. The Excellence Award takes into consideration a team’s skills, tournament play, judges’ interviews and engineering notebook. At the same event, RE’s “Dark Matter” team of Dashiell DeStefano ’22, Jonah Bennett ’21, Max Vallone ’22, Jordan Hoffman ’21, Sofia Miranda ’23, Alex Van Lidth ’22 and Andre Joseph ’22 posted a 7-0 record and won the Think Award, which rewards programming skill; and the school’s “The Matrix” team of Joshua Buttrick ’22, Arjun Badwal ’23, Charlotte Wang ’21, Joan Joseph ’21 and Emma G ’23 was recognized as a tournament finalist. Both earned world championship bids.
