A great night for US strings

Ransom Everglades upper school strings students showed off their tremendous progress under director Scott O'Donnell in their first live, in-person concert in nearly two years and the first ever at the new Posner Lecture Hall in the Fernandez STEM center. Students who have trained under O'Donnell since his arrival to the upper school in fall 2019 performed pieces from classic and modern composers – including three of O'Donnell's own works.

The school's String Orchestra led off the November 9 Upper School Strings Concert with the theme from Games of Thrones, and the RE String Quartet – Violet Martin ’24, Eva Gonzalez ’22, Theodore Ma ’23 and Mary Logan Woolsey ’22 – performed "String Quartet No. 1 in B Major" by Franz Joseph Haydn. The night concluded with five pieces by the 17-member Advanced Chamber Orchestra, including O'Donnell's "Bliss."

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
