Sixth grader wins RE spelling bee

Freshman Daniel Li '28 won the middle school spelling bee at Ransom Everglades on November 29, prevailing over six finalists to advance to the annual Miami Herald Spelling Bee next March. Li secured the victory over runner up Sienna Bautista '27 by spelling adduced and rhetorical correctly in the 12-round finale. The event was directed by faculty member Jody Salzinger.
The bee began with round one on November 15 when 25 students took a written test. The eight top scorers continued to the final round. Finalists Connor Alfonso '26, Bautista, Webber Druckerman '28, Max Feldman '26, Oliver Friedland '26, Li, Lila Mosse '27 and Radha Willig '28 spelled words including aerials, prioress and fortuitous. Alfonso finished in third place.
