Middle School Raider Band thrills at Swenson Hall

Ransom Everglades Middle School Raider Band students displayed their musical talents and first-semester progress during the Winter Holiday Concert at Swenson Hall on December 8. The event featured a look inside the learning process for students, audience participation and what director Cathi Leibinger described as the world-premiere of the RE sixth-grade Beginning Band.
The RE Beginning Band played "Homework Blues," then offered instrument demonstrations, section by section, which were accompanied by the projected sheet music. The student-musicians played "My Dreydl" and "Jingle Bells." The RE Raider Band performed "African Noel" and "Island Holiday." Parents downloaded a bells app for the smart phones, then took part in an antiphonal jingle with the RE Combined Bands, which played "Stompin' on the Housetop" and "iJingle."

The concert was the first in Swenson Hall for the middle school band in nearly two years.
