Girls' water polo wins 16th straight district title

The Ransom Everglades girls' water polo team won its 16th straight district championship with an 18-8 defeat of MAST Academy at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School on March 31. Later that evening, the boys' finished second in the district, falling to Belen Jesuit by a 15-8 margin. In the girls' game, Sarah Velazco '23 led the Raiders with seven goals, Sabrina Shipley '22 added four goals and three steals, and goalie Eleonora Cavallini '23 blocked seven shots.
The Raiders jumped to a 6-0 lead in the game's first 4 minutes and 15 seconds under starters Amanda Harris '22, Alexa Hommen '22, Mary Logan Woolsey '22, Holly Alessandro '23, Shipley, Velazco and Cavallini. Alessandro scored three goals, Hommen scored two and tallied two assists, and Woolsey snagged three steals. Ceci Grande-Scott '22 added two goals and had two steals, and Dylan Stone '22 collected two steals and two assists in the Florida High School Athletic Association District 15 title game. 

In the boys' final, Paolo Rebessi '23 scored four goals, grabbed one steal and had three ejections drawn; Victor Perez '23 added three goals, one assist and one steal; and Rafa Dovarganes '22 scored once and grabbed one steal. Goalie Coren O'Brien '22 blocked eight shots. The teams are coached by faculty member Eric Lefebvre and Interim Upper School Dean of Students Peter Solomun, and both advanced to regional quarterfinal matchups against Dr. Michael M. Krop High on April 5.
