RE honors parent volunteers

Ransom Everglades honored parent Nickelle Crowley as the 2021-22 Volunteer of the Year during a celebratory breakfast that recognized the dozens of parents who shared their time and talents with the school throughout the year, fund-raising, putting on events, honoring RE faculty and more. Crowley has assisted with the annual fund for five years and also served on REPA’s arts and scholastic council, as a sports booster, as a member of the REPA Executive Board, as VP of the middle school, on the environmental sustainability committee, as auction acquisitions chair, as parent network leader and more. She also the mother of RE students Thomas ’24; twins Ella and Jackson ’26; and Ava ’27

Eleanor and Chris Barnett, The Fund for RE co-chairs who helped with a record-breaking $4 million annual campaign, and Allison Holly, this year’s REPA president, also received special thanks for their contributions to RE during the May 24 breakfast at The Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove.

A highlight of the morning: members of the 2022 REPA Party and Auction volunteer team – Stephanie Sayfie Aagard ’88, Lisa Sayfie ’91, Holly, Crowley, Douglas Kaplan and Soledad Awad – delivered a check from the auction proceeds for $246,945.46 for financial aid to Head of School Penny Townsend.

Townsend also recognized all of The Fund for RE grade chairs, the 2021-22 REPA Executive Committee, and the many committee chairs.

The event concluded with the installation of the 2022-23 REPA Executive Committee members: Javier Lugo, president; Soledad Awad, president-elect; Dana Martorella, secretary; Nicky Hommen, treasurer; Amy Stokes, assistant treasurer; and Ellie Rodriguez, Nickelle Crowley, Jane de Cardenas, Maya Ezratti, Nikki Weisburd, Jennifer O’Neill Fox, Elena Leiser, Eleanor Barnett, Denise Font, Magda Gonzales, Simone Gumbs, Kristen Munroe, Memo Sauceda, Tricia Tie-Shue and Vicky Vega Capote. The committee also includes past presidents: Allison Holly, Vicky Hucks, Nicole Murray and Melissa Buckner.
