RE sailing in first place in SAISA
Ransom Everglades won its second South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (SAISA) major sailing regatta of the 2022-23 season in Tampa on March 4 to cement first place in the SAISA south rankings going into the season's final event. Under the direction of Captain Joe Logan, the Raiders dominated in the varsity and junior varsity divisions of the event, known as the South Points No. 6.
RE varsity sailors also won the SAISA South Points No. 2 regatta on Nov. 5 in Sarasota. They finished second at events in Jensen Beach, Fla., and St. Petersburg, and posted just one third-place finish at the South Points No. 5 event held at Ransom Everglades because of an error at the start.
The Raiders consistency in 2022-23 has given them the lead with 83 points in the standings among 23 sailing programs in the Southeast of the United States and Caribbean. Next is St. Thomas Aquinas High in Fort Lauderdale with 74; Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach with 65; and tied for fourth place are H.B. Plant High of Tampa and Immaculata-La Salle High with 63.
