RE students on both campuses contribute to hygiene drive

Ransom Everglades students participated in a school-wide hygiene drive, contributing to an annual food and toiletries distribution in Coconut Grove in early September that benefitted hundreds of local families. In partnership with the school's Volunteer Service Council, RE alumni and the Joshua's Heart Foundation, students on both campuses donated dozens of items – toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, detergent, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, deodorant and dish soap. The items were packaged into more than 120 bags and distributed by some 20 RE students, parents and alumni at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on Sept. 9.
Faculty member Laura Miller, a student activities co-director at the upper school, read to students a thank-you note from a community member who received items. "I am in awe with all of the products they collected and provided to the community," Miller read at an upper school assembly. "I am part of that community. I am not too vain to accept assistance. My home is very grateful."

Added Miller as students applauded: "What a great way to start off our year living The RE Way."

The distribution was carried out by the Joshua's Heart Foundation, a non-profit founded by RE alumnus Joshua Williams '18.
