Catalyst editorial team collects honors from the Florida Scholastic Press Association

The Florida Scholastic Press Association recognized the RE student newspaper – The Catalyst –  editorial staff with a number of honors in its spring 2024 Digital Contest, which drew a record 3,974 entries from across the state. Emma Dvorkin '24, Mia Bouyoucef '25 and Jordan James '25 each earned "All-Florida" recognition and Matias Blanco '25, Kayra Serpenguzel '25 and the entire editorial staff scored "excellent" ratings. The Catalyst newspaper appears in print and online and the students work under English faculty member Matt Margini.
Dvokin and Bouyoucef won "All-Florida" honors in the category of General Feature Story for "A Test on Tradition" and "CultuRE Without Community." James earned "All-Florida" in the category of Entertainment Feature for "Is Goodreads Good?"

Blanco earned an "Excellent" rating in the category of Non-Student Profile for "Who is Mr. Nathan West?" Serpenguzel earned an "Excellent" in the category of Campus News Story for "Students, Faculty Respond to AI 'Traffic Light' System." The editors as a team earned an "Excellent" in the category of Editorial for their piece on senioritis: "College Prep Shouldn't End at Acceptance."
