Ransom Everglades turns pink to support breast cancer research
Ransom Everglades turned pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a slate of Dig Pink events that culminated in volleyball games at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart on October 3. With bake sales, shirt sales, pep rallies, volleyball action and a special upper school assembly that included Anastasia Tousimis, Chief of Breast Surgery at Baptist Health Cancer Care, RE students put their collective heart and soul into this important cause.
Tousimis, an RE parent, answered questions about breast cancer and other topics posed by Isabella Ranawat '26 and she was introduced by Sophia Ranawat '27 at the Oct. 3 assembly. Tousimis, a breast surgical oncologist who is also medical director of the Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center, shared information about the most common cancers for men and women with upper school students, and then handed out gift bags from Baptist Health to students who were able to recall details from her talk.
The girls' varsity volleyball game conducted a bake sale immediately after the assembly to raise money for breast cancer research, and RE's junior and varsity volleyball teams competed that evening against Carrollton in all-pink uniforms. RE's middle school pinked out at a pep rally and student-faculty volleyball game earlier in the week.
