A youthful Ransom Everglades girls' cross country team that included four ninth graders, one sixth grader and two seniors scored an impressive eighth-place finish at the November 22 Florida High School Athletic Association 2A State Finals, signaling promising days ahead for the program. The boys' team, led by a ninth grader and a quartet of seniors, also performed well, capturing 12th place at the event in Tallahassee.
In the 5,000 meter race, the girls' team was led by Gillian Carvalho '29 (19 minutes, 51.10 seconds) and Anna Block '29 (20:13.30) and included strong performances from London Ross '32, Ella Griffin '29 and Sophia Linfield '26.Amelia Gonzales '29 and Alexandra Russoniello '26 also contributed under coach Mike Becker.
RE's top finisher for the boys' team was Ivan Lefrak '29, who finished in 17:06.50, just ahead of Nelson Manstein '26, who crossed the line in 17:16.70 and Joseph Candib '26 (17:21.60). Nicholas Juhasz '26 and Arthur Barrington '29 contributed to the team score, and Lucas Schleifer '29 and Auguste Houlle '27 also posted strong results under coach Don Kappelman.
