Student voices take center stage at TEDxRansomEvergladesSchool
Student and faculty speakers explored the complex "threads" that bind humanity together during the TEDxRansomEvergladesSchool event held January 31 at the Posner Lecture Hall. Presenters Matilda Barrack ’27, Olivia Karp ’27, Samuel Bussel-Alonso ’27, Maryam Astorga ’27,Luisa Duarte ’27 and faculty member Jesus Quintero offered thoughtful talks focused on how internal and external connections shape modern ideas and global society.
They touched on topics including how societies define fairness and resolve conflict, how the ocean brings people together, how language serves as a gateway for culture empathy and global citizenship, and how ties with diverse cultures break down barriers and foster a more empathetic society.
Event organizers Alicia Medina ’26 and Winston Hosford ’27 served as emcees.
The lead organizer Medina was supported by Hosford, Olivia Augustin ’27 and Andrea Medina ’28. Behind the scenes, the production was a collaborative effort involving numerous student volunteers and a team of faculty advisors, including John A. King Jr., Alfredo Palacio, Adam Schachner and Sharon Matamoros.
