Raiders roll, advance to district semifinal

The Raiders powered past Riviera Prep 11–4 on Tuesday at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami, using a fast start and consistent offense to secure the win. The Raiders struck early in the first inning when sophomores Jorge Gross '28 singled and Teddy Wagner '28 tripled, each driving in a run. They broke the game open in the second, scoring five runs on three hits, highlighted by RBI singles from senior Juan Velazco '26 and Gross, along with a bases-loaded walk by senior Enrique Macias '26 and a costly Riviera Prep error. Ransom Everglades continued to add on in the third, with Gross and Wagner each bringing in another run to extend the lead. Gross also picked up the win on the mound, allowing three runs over 3 2/3 innings while striking out three. Senior Enrique Macias '26 contributed in relief with 1 1/3 shutout innings. Offensively, the Raiders tallied 10 hits, led by Gross’s perfect 3-for-3 performance and Wagner’s two-hit, three-RBI game. The team also showed patience at the plate with seven walks and aggressiveness on the bases, as Velazco stole three bases and the Raiders totaled four steals overall. The victory advances the Raiders to the district semifinal this afternoon as they take on the top seed in True North.
