Nelson Manstein '26 received a Silver Knight Award for Science and Constantino Peña '26 earned an Honorable Mention in General Scholarship at the 68th Annual Miami Herald/el Nuevo Herald Silver Knight Awards ceremony on May 12 at the James L. Knight Convention Center on Miami Beach.
Just 15 high school students from Miami-Dade County received Silver Knight Awards, which are annually given to students who excel in scholarship and service. Manstein was recognized for creating a STEAM Center for His House Children's Home and founding the nonprofit A.R.T. (Art, Research and Technology) for HumanKind.
The organization helps students work together to expand STEM and arts education to youth in foster care or who are experiencing homelessness.
Manstein was presented with a Silver Knight statue, a $2,000 scholarship from the Herald Charities Foundation and 25,000 American Advantage miles.Peña earned a $500 scholarship and engraved plaque.
Ransom Everglades nominated other students for the prestigious awards: Austin Aagaard '26, Leyla Amjad '26, Dylan Berkowitz '26, Sofia Berkshire '26, Ella Crowley '26, Charlotte Gould '26, Gabriel Karsenti '26, Patrick Keedy Brown '26, Raul Matos '26, Alicia Medina '26 and Christopher Tsialas '26 also represented RE with honor and excellence.
