The Raiders remained perfect on the season, improving to 3-0 with a hard-fought 24-14 victory over Doral Academy. Sophomore quarterback Alfonzo Llanes ’29 continued his impressive start to the season, completing 12 of 13 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. Llanes connected with sophomore Will Duncan ’29 on a spectacular 59-yard touchdown pass, giving the Raiders a big-play spark through the air. Llanes also found the end zone on the ground, contributing a second touchdown to the Raiders’ offensive effort. Junior running back Noah Alce ’28 once again powered the Raiders’ ground game, carrying the ball 17 times for 92 yards and a touchdown. Alce broke loose for a 27-yard touchdown run, helping the Raiders control the game on the ground. Defensively, the Raiders continued their dominant start to the season. Senior linebacker Hunter White ’27 turned in a monster performance, recording 14 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack. As a unit, the Raiders’ defense held Doral Academy’s heralded rushing attack to just 109 total rushing yards, consistently limiting the Firebirds’ ability to establish the run. With the victory, the Raiders move to 3-0 on the season and will head into the bye week with a perfect record. Following the break, the Raiders will look to remain undefeated and move to 4-0 when they hit the road to face Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines on Thursday, September 17, at 3:30 p.m.
