Sailing wins national bid in fleet racing

RE sailing finished third overall in fleet racing at the April 23-24 district championships in Lake Norman, N.C., qualifying for the national competition for the prestigious Mallory Trophy May 13-15 in Charleston, S.C.
The Raiders needed a top-three finish to advance to the Interscholastic Sailing Association High School Doublehanded Championship for the Mallory Trophy, and got it thanks in large part to Shawn Harvey '17, Adrian Han '16 and Delilah Lubarsky '17, who won the A division race. RE's sailing team missed second place by a mere four points and first by only six.

The team, coached by Gonzalo Crivello, also included Tucker Weed '18; Jax Malloy '16; Vera Mariani '16; Alex Sidi '17 and Paul Lobree '18.

The Raiders will seek to qualify for the Baker Trophy national championships in team racing April 30-May 1 in Fort Lauderdale.
