Four inducted into Ransom Everglades Athletics Hall of Fame

Matt Rose ’86, Christopher Robert Moore ’76, Christopher Browne ’01 and The 1990 Girls’ Volleyball Championship Team were inducted into the Ransom Everglades Athletics Hall of Fame on April 28.
The new inductees were welcomed during a dinner and ceremony at the Pagoda attended by Head of School Penny Townsend and more than a dozen previous Hall of Famers. Athletic Director Claude Grubair, himself a Hall of Famer, emceed the event.

Rose, who played football and tennis, was introduced by Roland Samimy '86; Moore, who starred in soccer, was presented by Jim Beverley '62; Browne, a standout in football, basketball and baseball, was introduced by his father, Don Browne; and the girls' volleyball team was introduced by former coach Penny Matthews.

Lisa Sayfie '91 spoke on behalf of the team, which was represented by Christa Rashford Gurka '92, Jessica Meyeringh White '91, Suzanna Randall '91, Amy Sayfie Zichella '93, Linda Wennerstrom Nunez '94, Carrie Causey Foote '91, Carolina Sasson Fryer '91, Ali Lesser '92 and Leslie Cypen Diamond '92.

The previous Hall of Fame inductees in attendance included: Beverley ’62; Matthews; Michiel Johan “Monkey” van de Kreeke ’88; Andy Hague '74; Mike Stokes; Seth Nachman '86; David Clark '86; Dave Villano '79; Lisa Sayfie '91; Amy Sayfie Zichella '93; Jose Armando Tamayo Herrera '75; Josh Unger '92; Cathy Balestra '90; and Patty Shillington '77.
