Seventh-grade student lands on world championship chess team

Nikhil Kumar '21 has been selected to represent the United States at the 2016 World Cadets Chess Championship in Batumi, Georgia, in October on the heels of his second-place finish at the U.S. championships. Kumar will compete in the under-12 division of the two-week Eastern European event in October.
In the K-8 section of the National Junior High Championships in Indianapolis April 15-17, Kumar lost only once – to the eventual winner of the tournament. He finished in a tie for second place.
