The video tribute, which featured past and present photos of every senior, was named "The Climb." It was assembled with the assistance of video production teacher Jorge Guzman.

Mia Lennon '16
, the president of the drama club, led nine senior singers and two on guitar in a performance of Queen's "We are the Champions," and she invited all students who had participated in drama at the Lewis Family Auditorium for their final good-bye: all kneeled to kiss the stage.

Will Glass '16, the salutatorian, addressed the class, recalling "quintessentially RE stories .... that will make it really special when we meet in the future. I am looking forward to those moments, because the quintessentially RE stories are part of who I am, part of who we all are."

Director of Alumni Relations Vicki Williamson '88 urged the seniors, who will graduate May 27, to remain active with Ransom Everglades after they depart.

"You're part of RE for life," she said. "We know you're going to get very busy for the next couple of years, but we want you to know when you are ready to get involved with RE, we are waiting with open arms."

Williamson presented special legacy plaques to graduating seniors with RE alums as parents. Those honored: Ricardo Diez '81 and Isabella Diez '16; Cristi Mendoza Edmunds '86 and Myles Edmunds '16; Greg Glass '82 and Will Glass '16; Scott Greenwald '83 and Lexi Greenwald '16; Suzanne Richard Meltzer '89 and Noah Meltzer '16; Joan Silverstein '83 and Sophie Gelber '16; Ed Squire '83 and Jake Squire '16; Vanessa Greene Steinberg '87 and Ryan Steinberg '16.

Head of School Penny Townsend presented a pair of "Golden Gules" – an award devised by the Class of 2016 – to departing Student Government Association President Mariana Sanchez-Medina '16 and Senior Class President Ahan Malhotra '16, urging them to bring the awards back to future reunions.

She also thanked the Ransom Everglades Parents' Association.

"REPA, thank you for bringing us together to celebrate this great class one more time," Townsend said, then addressed the seniors: "Think how many times you've been in these chairs. Think how much you've grown in these chairs."

She also said: "It's wonderful to be in front of so much happiness, joy and relief."

Twelfth-grade Academic Dean Jean Duty encouraged students to live up to their potential. "I and everyone here at Ransom loves you," she said. "Thank you for the lessons you have taught me. Go forth and give the world your best. We believe in you. You are well prepared to handle life's challenges."
