Yearbook President Zach Roston '16 dedicated the 2015-16 yearbook to math teacher and track coach Mike Becker during a May 24 assembly, saying that Becker's "mentorship has helped countless students find their way."
"I'm blessed to have spent the last (10) years at Ransom Everglades," Becker said. "This award means as much to me as any I've ever gotten."
Becker, a Princeton graduate, arrived to RE in 2006. He previously served as associate director of athletics at Florida International University, where he earned a master's in education management. At Ransom Everglades, he has led a girls' track and field team that has won 11 straight district championships, and taught algebra, geometry and AP statistics courses. He also is faculty sponsor for the club Save our Soldiers.
Roston said Becker exemplified the 2015-16 yearbook theme, "Finding Our Way." The yearbook, assembled under the direction of club advisor Dr. Corinne Rhyner, "sustains the history of Ransom and allows us to reflect on our past," Roston said.
