Five RE athletes win All-America honors

Five RE athletes in spring sports earned national high-school All-America recognition – or the equivalent. In girls' water polo, Claire McDowell '16 claimed first-team honors and Sofia Carrera-Justiz '16 was named to the second team. Will Danon '17 won honorable mention recognition in boys' water polo. Swimmer Kyla Valls '17 won All-America honors in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles. Thrower Debbie Ajagbe '17 finished 14th in the nation in the discus.
Erin Bakes '18 was named an All-American from Florida in girls' lacrosse.

They were led by track and field coach Mike Becker, swim coach Andy De Angulo, water polo coach Eric Lefebvre, and lacrosse coach Bridgette Laskey.

Valls also competed in four events the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in Omaha, Neb., in July. Though Valls failed to claim a spot in the 2016 Summer Games, she posted impressive times in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly.
