Julia Bernstein '19, Skylar Scharer '18 and Nikki Jagid '19 participated in the Best Buddies Local Leadership Conference Aug. 27 at Miami Country Day, receiving training on inclusion for persons with disabilities. Best Buddies is an international nonprofit and RE's chapter works with students with disabilities from Easter Seals.
The girls, RE's Best Buddies officers, attended the conference with club director Jenny Carson '03, who also was a Best Buddies officer during her senior year at RE. They joined leaders from high schools across Miami-Dade county for the training. RE's Best Buddies chapter visits Easter Seals multiple times a semester and brings students to campus in the spring.
The students and Carson are pictured with Easter Seals buddy director, Jako Nemec.
