Girls' golf wins district title, boys finish second

The girls' varsity golf team won a district championship and RE's boys' team finished second in the Class 1A-24 district finals on Oct. 11 at the Biltmore Golf Course. Twins Phoebe Beber-Frankel '20, who shot an 80, and Jake Beber-Frankel '20 (69) posted the top scores for Ransom Everglades; Jake won top-score honors in a playoff.
The girls, who defeated Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart and Gulliver Preparatory School, were also led by Rachel De Angulo '20 (82) and Megan Houchin '19 (85). Marc Chaneles '20 (82) and Joshua Solesbury '18 (85) propelled the boys, who finished just behind Gulliver.

Under Coach Eric Salomatoff, the girls advanced to the state tournament with a strong performance in the regional playoffs Oct. 17 at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. At that event, Phoebe Beber-Frankel shot an 80; Houchin an 88; De Angulo a 95; and Kat Cochran '18, a career-best 99. RE finished second to North Broward Prep.

The boys' team under David W. Ragan III just missed qualifying for the state tournament, finishing third in the regional event in Fort Lauderdale, but Jake Beber-Frankel advanced as an individual qualifier. He shot a 73 to lead the Raiders, followed by Chaneles (81).
