Ransom Everglades athletics continued to assist the fight against breast cancer on Oct. 13, when the RE swim team wore pink swim caps and collected donations at its rescheduled Dig Pink meet. Kyla Valls '17 broke three meet records and two pool records at the event, originally postponed because of Hurricane Matthew and merged with the RE Swimming Invitational.
RE's girls finished second and the boys, third, among 11 schools. Next up are the district championships, which begin at Ransom Everglades on Oct. 18.
Valls set meet records with her victory by more than four seconds in the girls' 100 fly (56.33 seconds); her win in the 50 free (23.57); and her relay-leg 100 freestyle (50.90 seconds). RE's Felipe Urrutia '18 won a pair of races, topping the field in the boys' 500 free (4 minutes, 59.90 seconds) and the 100 breast (1:03.01). Photo Gallery
