Middle School crowns a Spelling Bee champion

Kyler Pace '23 won the Middle School Spelling Bee by correctly spelling the word dermatology, earning the opportunity to represent Ransom Everglades at the Miami-Dade County speeling bee at Jungle Island on March 7, 2017. Pace edged Boris Bialer '22 in the final round of competition at the Dec. 1 bee.
Eleven students competed, after earning the top scores on a spelling test that was given in November. The field included Lucas Brenner ’21, Felipe Campano ’21, Jonathan Pollak ’23, Sol Robert ’22, Nikki Seshadri ’21, Gideon Shaked ’22, Anna Tariko ’22, Tyler Woodard ’23 and Yasmine Zaydon ’21. The students tackled words such as tenacious, physicists, castellated, mahogany, and veneer. English teacher Jody Salzinger oversaw the competition.
