Eric Cai '17, John Mistele '17, Tim O'Brien '17 and Guillermo Wenrich '17 advanced through the first round of qualification for the U.S. Physics Team that will compete at the International Physics Olympiad Competition in Indonesia in July. The four finished in the top 10 percent of test takers nationwide on the "F=ma" exam.
That result pushed them to the next step in the process – a three-hour, free-response, calculus-based exam administered on April 6. The top 20 performers on that exam will be invited to a training camp at which the five-member U.S. team will be selected. Cai, Mistele, O'Brien and Wenrich are students in Paul Natland '02's AP Physics class.
