Four teams make cut in biz plan challenge

Four teams from Ransom Everglades advanced to the semifinals of the Miami Herald's 19th-annual Business Plan Challenge, which drew nearly 100 high school entries from throughout Miami-Dade County.

BEST-Ware
, by Eitan Dooreck-Aloni '18, Julia Ortiz '18 and Erin Bakes '18, is user-friendly software that enables parents to efficiently and effectively monitor and regulate their children’s phone usage while limiting the power struggle between parents and their children. BEST-Ware was the top winner in the RE Business Plan competition held on campus.

Coegi, by Yoav Grainer '17 and Corey Kraftsow '17, is a fun, innovative app that utilizes user restraint and gamification to discourage drivers from texting and driving. Coegi’s game rewards drivers for not using their phones while driving.
 
Micki’s, by Simon Bindefeld-Boccara '17 and Jake Pelayo '17, would create an app that enables restaurants to advertise real-time flash sales on specific meals when business has been slow, combating food waste and allowing more consumers to try their dishes.
 
VetNet, by Carlos Esber '18, Austin Acosta '18 and Julian Zighelboim '18, is an app that would help veterans combat issues including unemployment, unavailability of resources like proper mental health therapy and lack of communication with people suffering similar experiences.
