RE students' work exhibited in South Miami

Works from Ransom Everglades art students showing native Florida flora and fauna from a bird's-eye perspective will be featured in an exhibition at the historic Doc Thomas House in South Miami from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 10. The exhibit, "In My SoFlo Backyard," will remain at the 1932 cottage and Florida Heritage Site through November; it can be viewed by appointment.
The opening night reception features a Donation Bird Bar, and 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the RE's students' art will benefit the Tropical Audubon Society. The exhibit was curated by art teacher Astrid Dalins, and it's the second involving the school in a week -- the works of art teacher Ellen Grant were displayed at Books & Books in Coral Gables on Nov. 3. That exhibit, called Nature's Garage, showcased Grant's ink and gouache drawings.

Parking is free at the Doc Thomas House event at 5530 Sunset Drive, Miami, Fla. 33143. If you have questions, call
