RE speech and debate gets two firsts

RE’s speech and debate team earned two first-place finishes and eight top fives at a pair of recent local events. Ilija Wan-Samm ’19 earned the top finish in Program of Oral Interpretation and Alex Mendelson ’19 and Dori Schurr ’20 earned first in Varsity Public Forum at a Catholic Forensic League tournament in November at Taravella High.
Wan-Samm also earned a second in Program of Oral Interpretation and fourth in Dramatic Interpretation at the Colt Classic on Dec. 2 at Coral Springs High. At that tournament, Alex Dray ’21 earned fifth in Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking (top novice finish) and Mia Landman ’20 and Nati Botero ’20 got fifth in Varsity Duo Interpretation of Literature.

At the Taravella High tournament, Liza Dill ’21 and Aaron Holtz ’21 earned fifth and Joan Joseph ’21 and Sara Prieto ’21 claimed third in Novice Public Forum. Heather Touby ’20 finished seventh in Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking. Isabella Cofresi ’19 scored sixth in Original Oratory at the Nova Titan, another November event.
