Felipe Urrutia '18 was named a finalist in photography in the 2018 YoungArts Foundation Competition (see one of his submitted photos). Just one percent of more than 12,000 entrants in various disciplines received finalist recognition. Laura Liu '19 earned merit recognition in classical music for the viola. Urrutia takes photography with teacher Matt Stock and Liu works with strings program director Jessica Li.
This year’s finalists have the opportunity to participate in the 37th annual National YoungArts Week Jan. 7-14 in Miami. The YoungArts Foundation competition honored a total of 757 students, representing the top 10 percent of applications. One hundred and seventy one received finalist recognition.
