Pace '23 wins second straight spelling bee

Kyler Pace '23 won the Middle School Spelling Bee for the second consecutive year, topping runner-up Liv Steinhardt '23 by successfully spelling the word liaise. Boris Bialer '22, Ian Fox '24, Cecilia Granda-Scott '22, Sofia Rua '24, Tyler Woodard '23 and Nandika Yadav '24 made it through the opening round Nov. 30 to compete in the eight-student final on Dec. 7.
Pace outlasted Steinhardt in a fun finale, tangling over words including parentheticaltruculentlysubniveanslumgullion, and posthumous. As the Ransom Everglades champion, he will compete at the Miami-Dade Spelling Bee in March. Middle School English Coordinator Jody Salzinger carried out the event.
