Students on both campuses have excelled in recent math events. The Upper School math team finished fifth overall out of 62 teams in the American Heritage at FAU Davie Region 5 FAMAT Competition Jan. 20 asAnna Mistele '19, Jacob Tie-Shue '18,Ryan Tie-Shue '18 and Dylan Tie-Shue '20 claimed a team-best third place in the calculus event.
Meanwhile, Middle Schoolers Ryan Berkshire '23 and Alex Van Lidth '22 scored in the top five percent nationwide in the annual American Mathematics Competition 8.
At the FAU event, the statistics team of Valeria Vela '19, Donna Zheng '19, Antonio Tsialas '19 and Makenzie Love '19 finished sixth overall out of 23 teams.
The precalculus team of Jen Lin '20, Charith Reddy '20, Zach Buttrick '20 and Sophie Leibowitz '20 scored seventh of 39 teams.
The geometry team of Yuhan Liu '21 and Joan Joseph '21 accrued enough points to finished 16th of 28 teams despite not fielding a "full" team.
Berkshire and Van Lidth took the AMC8 test at the Middle School campus.
The Upper School math team is directed by Karen Key, the Middle School mathletes by Ginny Onorati.
