Kumar '22 wins MS Geography Bee

Javi Kumar '22 won the National Geographic Geography Bee at the Middle School on Jan. 18, edging Jonathan Pollack '23 in a competitive final round to earn the chance to represent the school at the state championship in Jacksonville in April. With the score tied, Kumar was able to answer the deciding question: "The Seikan Tunnel connects the island of Hokkaido with what other Japanese island?" He correctly answered: "Honshu."
The Middle School's top 12 geographers participated in the final around at Swenson Hall under the direction of faculty member Joe Mauro.
