RE’s speech and debate team performed well at a nearby national tournament, the Jan. 12-14 Sunvitational at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, with RE students advancing to the elimination rounds in both speech and debate events. Ransom Everglades students also scored a medal at a local tournament in Deerfield Beach, continuing the program’s success.
Alexander Abinader ’19 and Thomas Murphy ’19, and Oliver Stern ’19 and Dori Schurr ’20 made it to triple-octofinals in Public Forum Debate. Heather Touby ’20 made it to semifinals in Impromptu Speaking. At the South Florida Catholic Forensic League 4 on Jan. 20, Alex Freedline ’20 and Daniel Freedline ’18 placed second in Public Forum Debate, and Lucas Miner ’20 placed fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking.
