RE robotics teams win top awards at worlds

Three RE Middle School robotics teams earned a stunning triple at the VEX IQ World Championships May 1 in Louisville, Ky. Two of the squads won prestigious prizes, topping nearly 400 teams from around the world, and the third RE team advanced to the final round, finishing tied for sixth in its division.
Sofia Paraoulaki de Miranda '23, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24, Charlotte Kennedy '24, Gracie Hucks '24, Catherine Buckner '24, Fiona Oberg '24 and Chloe Alfonso '24 earned the Build Award, which recognizes a sturdy, well-crafted robot, and also advanced to the final round in the technology division, finishing tied for fifth.

Andre Joseph '22, Max Vallone '22, Dashiell DeStefano '22, Gideon Shaked '22, Erick Gross '24 and Isabela Camacho '22 won the Create Award, which recognizes a robot with a creative engineering solution. The team of Pablo Rodriguez-Russowsky '23, Luca Trebotich '23, Diego de Lope '23 and Victor Perez '23 finished tied for sixth in the arts division.
 
All three teams have been led by MS robotics coach Gustavo Palacios.
