Sailing team wins major SE regatta

The varsity sailing team finished first in the second major South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association event of the 2018-19 season, topping a field of 26 schools from the southeastern United States. RE sailors navigated light and tricky winds at the Oct. 20-21 SAISA South Points #2 at Jensen Beach and were led by a dominant performance by RE's A team – Lachlain McGranahan '20, Gabriel Vianna '21 and Eva Whitehouse '22. The team won four out of five races.
The B Division team led by Javi Garcon '21, Lucas Vianna '21, Adam Kaplan '21 and Stephan Baker '22 also contributed to the victory. Baker and Kaplan won their two races. Ransom Everglades finished with 31 points, defeating Shorecrest Prep (39), Gulliver Prep (56), Riverview High (64) and St. Thomas Aquinas (80). RE's junior varsity team finished 12th. 

The weekend proved the best of the season so far for RE's sailing team, which is led by coach Joseph Logan. RE finished third overall at the Larry White ISSA Invitational Regatta Oct. 13-14 at the Coast Guard Academy and second in the SAISA South Points # 1 in Hollywood on Sept. 29.
