Coed Varsity Crew Competes at the Head of the Charles

The Coed Varsity Crew Team traveled to Boston to compete at the 54th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta this past weekend. Entered into the Men's Youth Double (2x) event, the RE Crew of stroke Andres Segrera and bow Will Mathes placed 12th out of 43 crews in the international field of elite boys scullers with a time of 21:10. Entered into the Women's Youth Coxed Quad (4x+) event, the RE Crew of coxswain Valeria Vela, stroke Julia Buckner, Daniela Gardere, Liza Dill and bow Ashley Nguyen raced another strong international field and placed 27th out of 42 crews with a time of 21:32. Launching into a very cold, light rain with a building headwind, rough water and falling temperatures throughout the 3 mile race, both crews performed admirably at the largest regatta in the world (2 days, 11,000+ rowers in 2,000+ entries). The team looks to build on their success as they travel to the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN over the November 2nd to November 4th weekend where 10 different entries will battle another large field of teams from across North America and beyond.
