Varsity Football Shuts Out St. Brendan

On Friday night the Varsity Football Team welcomed the St. Brendan Sabres to Robert E. Walker Field for their final home game of the 2018 football season. The Raiders played well on both sides of the ball, recording a shutout on defense while scoring 42 points on offense. Sophomore quarterback Thomas Schein had another excellent game recording both a touchdown on the ground and through the air. Phil Covil and Robbie Moret were two of Schein's favorite targets making some big time catches for the Raiders. Moret and Covil also had big days on defense with several pass deflections as well as two interceptions from Moret. Senior running back Greg Estime had an outstanding day, defending against both the pass and run. He was able to recover two fumbles that helped to keep the momentum in Ransom Everglades' favor. On offense, Estime tallied 3 rushing touchdowns and several key receptions. Jake Schwartz notched another rushing touchdown for the Raiders and played solid defense from the linebacker position. Schwartz and Lucas Ferrer made the middle of the field inhospitable to the Sabres' running backs and were quick to assist with both perimeter runs and the passing game. The win extends the team's season by another week, as the Raiders will head to the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar on Friday, November 2nd to take on Somerset Academy--Central Miramar in the FIFC Bowl Championship Final and their final game of the season. The game is set for 3:30 PM.
