US thespians earn district distinction

Upper School thespians earned eight "superior" awards and six "excellent" awards at the District 8 Thespian Competition, which took place over two days at Miami Beach Senior High (Dec. 15) and Miami Arts Studio (Dec. 1). The 20 students in RE's Thespian Troupe 273 competed against groups from more than 40 Miami-Dade County schools in 14 categories. The students worked under the direction of performing arts teacher Sam Shapiro.
