Math team members advance in national competition

Joshie Khohayting '28, Daniel Li '28, Kai Duwin '26 and Gabriel Karsenti '26 (top 10 percent) and Robert Li '26, Armin Stamate '26 and Minnie Zhou '26 (top 25 percent), each qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) with their performances on the American Mathematics Competitions 10 and 12 – an impressive distinction reserved for the top tier of math students in the United States. -
Middle school math team wins fourth Mathcounts title in a row
Read MoreFor the fourth straight year, RE's middle school math team won the Miami Mathcounts competition. Four students placed in the top 15 – Ivy Chen '30 (third place), Maya Lee-Schonfeld '30 (seventh), Yifan Shen '30 (eighth) and Ivar Kostowicz '31 (15th) – one of RE's best performances ever in the local championship. Math team members displayed teamwork and problem-solving skills under coach Ashley Ernst and also won the ciphering round, which showcases speed and accuracy under pressure. -
Middle school robotics team scores two major awards
Read MoreRansom Everglades robotics students excelled at the VEX IQ Robotics Competition Mix & Match Qualifier held recently at Rockway Middle School in Miami on January 24. In a field of 35 teams, Jack Milota '30, Ryan Kantesaria '30, Jayden Goodman '30 and Alex Lord Borja '30 secured two of the tournament's top honors: the Amaze Award, recognizing excellence in robot design and programming, and Robot Skills Champion. -
Nearly four dozen RE student-athletes earn all-county recognition
Five Ransom Everglades golfers and one football player earned first-team all-county honors for fall sports from the Miami Herald as 44 student-athletes at Ransom Everglades earned recognition. Golfers Cole Durham '29, Nina Fischer '29, Axel Monssoh '30, Esha Nagalla '29 and Hugo Stenstrom '26 were joined by Colton Smith '28 as first-team selections. Durham was also named the Miami-Dade Golfer of the Year for classes 1A-3A, and golf coach Dave Ragan earned Miami-Dade Coach of the Year for golf in 1A-3A. Find the full Herald story here.Read More -
Ninth graders journey to the Ten Thousand Islands in January
Ransom Everglades' ninth graders traveled to the Ten Thousand Islands in three waves in January, continuing an experiential learning tradition that dates back to the 1970s. The students journeyed by canoe and camped under the moonlight as they practiced the navigational skills they learned in their physical education classes throughout the fall. Prominent banker talks about financial industry ethics with students
Ransom Everglades students explored ethical decision making in banking, real estate and lending during a special assembly and roundtable discussion with prominent banker Lance Drummond. The latest speaker in the Holzman Center of Applied Ethics Speaker Series at RE, Drummond answered questions from students and Holzman Center Director John A. King, Jr., who joined him on the Lewis Family Auditorium stage for the opening assembly with upper school students.Read More -
RE community comes out for MLK Day of Service
Ransom Everglades students, parents, alumni and professional community members participated in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service with the Joshua's Heart Foundation on January 19, showing RE's core values in action by distributing food and household supplies to Miami families. The collaboration with the service organization founded by Joshua Williams '18 allowed RE to help 1,470 individuals, 342 families and 715 children.Read More -
RE dance team scores two awards at the Florida Dance Challenge
The Ransom Everglades Dance Team won two awards at the Florida Dance Challenge January 24 at Hialeah Gardens High School. The entire team placed third in Large Varsity Contemporary/Modern and a small group consisting of dance team members Isabella Rojas-Cueva '26, Sofia Berkshire '26, Katy Elgarresta '27 and Mia Vasa '28 placed second in Small Advanced Varsity Contemporary/Modern.Read More -
RE students and faculty offer classroom experiences to pediatric cancer patients
Ransom Everglades students and faculty provided a three-day academic immersion program January 23-25 for 23 pediatric cancer patients treated at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital who are unable to attend in-person school. About 30 student volunteers organized by the Volunteer Service Organization and eight RE teachers provided classroom experiences designed to reintegrate the campus visitors into a traditional classroom environment.Read More -

Student and faculty speakers explored the complex "threads" that bind humanity together during the TEDxRansomEvergladesSchool event held January 31 at the Posner Lecture Hall. Presenters Matilda Barrack ’27, Olivia Karp ’27, Samuel Bussel-Alonso ’27, Maryam Astorga ’27, Luisa Duarte ’27 and faculty member Jesus Quintero offered thoughtful talks focused on how internal and external connections shape modern ideas and global society.Read More -

Ransom Everglades upper school student-writers excelled in the 2026 Regional Scholastic Writing Awards, collecting three Gold Keys, 10 Silver Keys, and 12 Honorable Mentions, highlighting RE's literary talent in categories including poetry, fiction-writing and screenplays. Victoria De Vera ’27, Patrick Keedy Brown ’26, and Michael Kong ’28 each earned two awards including prestigious Gold Key recognitions, putting them in the top seven percent of all regional entries and earning consideration for national awards.Read More -

A 19-student delegation from Ransom Everglades enjoyed a cultural immersion and intellectual adventure at the 58th annual The Hague International Model United Nations conference, which took place January 26-30 in The Netherlands. RE girls' soccer wins third straight district title with hard-fought victory
Things looked bleak for the Ransom Everglades girls' soccer team early in the district championship at Miami Dade College. The Raiders' top goal scorer and offensive star was sidelined with an injury. The Raiders fell behind, 1-0. And they watched another key player leave the field with a first-half injury.Read More
But even with the demoralizing start, early deficit and depleted roster against True North Classical Academy in the January 27 contest, the Raiders rallied for a convincing 2-1 victory and third consecutive district championship under coach Antonio Boada. -
Matthew Beatty '01 returns to RE to encourage students to live lives of purpose

The annual College Admission Symposium at Ransom Everglades offered RE juniors and their parents an inside look at the college admission process from admission officers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Claremont McKenna College and the University of Chicago.
